The Subclass 041 Bridging Visa D (BVD) — Non-Applicant is a short-term bridging visa for persons who are in Australia but are not in a position to lodge a valid substantive visa application. It is distinct from the Subclass 040 BVD (for prospective applicants) in that it applies to persons who cannot currently make a valid application — for example, a person whose circumstances prevent them from being eligible to apply for a substantive visa at that time.

The Subclass 041 carries both condition 8101 (no work) and condition 8401 (must attend interview when required by the Department). The 8401 condition reflects the Department's ongoing monitoring obligations over the person's status.
