Agri-Food Pilot
Statutory definition
The Agri-Food Pilot requires applicants to have at least 1 year of non-seasonal, full-time Canadian work experience in an eligible agricultural occupation in the 3 years before applying; a permanent full-time job offer from a Canadian employer in an eligible occupation; CLB/NCLC 4 in all four language abilities; and educational equivalency to a Canadian secondary school diploma. Annual intake caps apply.
Explanation
The Agri-Food Pilot addresses labour shortages in the Canadian agri-food sector. The lower language requirement (CLB 4) reflects the language demands of the occupations targeted. The pilot is designed for workers who are already in Canada on temporary work permits in the sector. Annual intake caps by sector and province mean that timing of application relative to cap exhaustion is important.
